Free play that stays free.
PolarStarLanding is score-based with no prizes. But mini-games can still become a habit — and the arcade-style game visuals of these games mean we want to be especially clear about responsible play.
01Why this page exists
Two things can both be true. The games on this site are score-based and entertainment-only, and the patterns they tap into — flipping cards looking for a reward, dropping a chip and hoping for a high multiplier — overlap with patterns used in other similar casual games. If the habit is harmless, that's fine. If it isn't, the help below is for you.
02A few self-check questions
If you find yourself nodding to several of these, it may be worth speaking with one of the organisations linked further down.
- Do you open the games at moments when you should be doing something else, and stay longer than you meant to?
- After a session, do you feel restless or low rather than relaxed?
- Do you play to escape stress, sadness, or boredom rather than for entertainment?
- Have you tried to cut down on gaming or gambling and not been able to?
- Has anyone close to you asked you to spend less time playing?
- Do you also gamble elsewhere, and does it sometimes feel out of control?
03Practical tools you can use right now
- Set a time limit before you start. Five minutes, one full round of Match Pairs at 4×4 — whatever feels right.
- Use your operating system's screen-time / focus tools to enforce that limit.
- Close the tab when you reach your target — don't “one more round” past it.
- If gambling is the deeper concern, look into self-exclusion programs in your country. The Where to get help section below names organisations that explain how.
04Where to get help
These four independent organisations offer free, confidential support around problem gambling. They are the only outbound links on this site — we trust them and they're worth knowing about regardless of how you got here.
- GamCare (UK) — gamcare.org.uk · free 24/7 helpline and live chat.
- GambleAware (UK) — begambleaware.org · funding for treatment, prevention and research.
- Responsible Gambling Council (Canada) — responsiblegambling.org · research, standards, education.
- Gambling Therapy (worldwide) — gamblingtherapy.org · free practical and emotional support, multiple languages.
05For someone you know
If you're worried about a friend or family member, the same organisations have dedicated resources for relatives. You don't need their permission, or even their knowledge, to call a helpline and talk through what you're seeing.
